Toxic Products
I tried esalon hair color. After 30 yrs. of having my hair done professionally thought I give them a try. BIG MISTAKE ! I used the product,followed the simple instructions noticed it had very strong odor (no biggie, spent decades smelling perm etc.. odors in salons) Finished the process early afternoon & liked the color of my hair; although I did notice the texture of hair was "straw-like" no problem, I figured eventually after conditioning for a week or so it'd be okay. Early evening I was not feeling well, light headed and then nosebleeds with large blood clots started. I was really scared. My husband wanted to take me to the E.R. as I've never had a nosebleed in my life & am very healthy. I was informed due to the toxic chemicals in this product caused my nosebleeds. I did email & call (took awhile to reach someone) ask for a supervisor & explained what occurred. She was apologetic & felt I had an adverse reaction to the color. I felt it was necessary to let them know so it would not happen to anyone else. I have since used other hair color products with no problems. I honestly believe there are very harsh toxins in their hair color so please be aware before using.

Hi Susan - We’re truly sorry you experienced a nose bleed with large blood clots after using our hair color. In rare cases, one can develop sensitivity to hair color ingredients over time. eSalon permanent hair color is a professional grade dye containing ammonium hydroxide, which is a solution of ammonia in water. While ammonia has a strong odor, eSalon and other experts believe that it is a safer choice than the substitutes some other hair color companies use, such as high volumes of Ethanolamine. While uncommon, it is possible to experience nose irritation or a nose bleed as a result of inhaling ammonia in a non well-ventilated area. We are very concerned about your experience because eSalon has shipped over 1,000,000 hair color orders since June 2010 without our clients ever experiencing a nose bleed. We’re happy you were able to identify the source of your nose bleed and discontinued use of the product. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and share your concern about our clients’ safety. We will certainly examine this further.
