Review 8/21/2010

I purchased a barebones netbook from Zotac a few months ago for my son's Birthday. After approximately 1 weeks use, the sound from the headphone port was heavily distorted. I obtained an RMA from Zotac and shipped it to them using FedEx. FedEx reported the netbook's delivery on 6/22/10, Zotac sent me an email on 6/30/10 saying they just received the RMA and would resolve the issue within 30 days. On 7/22, I followed up with Zotac's RMA department asking about the status of my RMA. The following day I received an email stating the computer was sent to Hong Kong for repair. They apologized and said they would put a new netbook in the mail to me. On 8/17, I followed up again since they still have not sent me a replacement netbook. Their response was that they are waiting for a new unit to be selected. As of today, 8/21/10, My son's birthday gift has still not been returned.
This will be first and last purchase of anything with Zotac's name on it. Their inability to fill a simple RMA request is amazing. Furthermore, they do not fulfill their commitments, they say they put a new unit in the mail and they do not. How long can it possibly take to select a unit for shipping?
My recommendation to anyone looking to purchase a Zotac product is to pay a little more for a more reputable product.
