A "James Reid" called my house saying that he was with the County Clerks office (if you don't know they are the gov't agency that issues arrest warrants) and that a civil complaint had been filed against my dad and that my address and number we're given as reference contact info. They said that if my father or I did not contact the 'filing agency' back immediately he would be getting served at my address. They also said that they had my address as his place of residence. There are so many things wrong with this i don't know where to start. My dad swears he's never used me as a reference for anything, ever, let alone since I moved to my current address. My dad has also never used my phone number as a secondary contact number, he always uses my mom. My dad has never lived with me or so much as had a package sent here. Furthermore, I've only lived at my current address since I got married and changed my name from a Hispanic last name to a German one so there is no way they should connect us. Also, they claim that they have my address as his place of residence but they have sent him fake summons papers to his address about 30 miles away. The summons are definitely fake for a few reasons. My state only prints double sided documents, these were single-sided. All official state documents bear the state seal and have a form ID/control number, these didn't. I looked the phone number up online to find that they are a collections agency that uses the same tactic repeatedly. My dad doesn't owe anyone money. This place is running a scam... oh yea and "James Reid" had changed his name to "John Reid" by the end of the call.
