In a nutshell, here's the details:
In 2006 sometime, "Sr. Graphic Designer" ordered a bulk amount of toner to get a deeply discounter "price per cartridge" - or at least that's what UBS said.
At the time, about 1/2 the order was on "backorder".
About a month or two after "Sr. Graphic Designer" left the company, I received a call from UBS stating that the backordered toner was now available and was being shipped to us. I had only been with the company for 4 months at this point.
When the toner arrived, there was still an amount on backorder, and we contacted UBS and told them we didn't need all that toner for a printer that was now out of date, and we were barely using.
UBS agreed to accept the toner back, in exchange for toner we could use.
We returned 2 cases of black toner in exchange for a bunch of color toner for our Color Laser printer.
The total bill of nearly $5,000 remained the same however - it has NEVER made sense to me why we would purchase $5,000 worth of toner for ANY printer, when printers become obsolete almost as quickly as computers do?!
Once this bill is paid off, If I never hear of United Business Supply again, it will be too soon!!! I do not believe they are a reputable company, and I think they pulled a "fast one" upon hearing that "Sr. Graphic Designer" was no longer with the company. I don't believe the "discounted" price of the original toner was worth ordering $5,000 worth of it, and I don't believe a single thing UBS has ever said is the truth - However, with no paperwork or proof to back up our side of the story - we're stuck with this obscene bill.
