WARNING-HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
On 2-16-11 Dr Kirsten Murphy, DVM, Tustana Animal Hospital, called me for authorized to sedate & extract ONE tooth from my pet Chihuahua Dixie.
Dr Murphy proceeded to pull SEVEN teeth & in doing so broke Dixie's jaw. She made no attempt to provide immediate emergency care to repair the broken jaw nor did she call to tell me what had happened.
When my daughter came to pick up Dixie Dr Murphy gave my daughter pain pills that Dixie was supposed to CHEW (with a broken jaw) & told her to take Dixie to Dr Peter Vogel of The Southern California Veterinary Hospital IF NECESSARY.
Dixie could barely walk & had blood dripping from her mouth. She couldn't eat & had difficulty drinking water even though she drank a LOT of water (apparently she had not been given any water during the entire time she was at Tustana).
When my daughter took Dixie to the hospital the staff was appalled & shocked at what had happened to Dixie. Dr Vogel was able to wire Dixie's jaw together. She stayed overnight for observation & was given LIQUID pain medication as well as liquid food.
I consider Dr Kirsten Murphy to be incompetent, uncaring, insensitive & CRUEL. She should have her license REVOKED.
When Dr Kvarnstrom, the owner of Tustana Animal Hospital, returned from vacation I met with him. He REFUSED to pay Dr Vogel's $1400 bill.
He then proceeded to blame ME for ignoring their verbal & written recommendations to have Dixie's teeth cleaned. An outright LIE.
I was never told that Dixie had a problem with her teeth or gums until 2-16-11 when I authorized the extraction of ONE tooth. None of the detailed receipts in Dixie's file make any mention about Dixie's teeth or gums. You'd think something would have been noted on the receipt during one of Dixie's ANNUAL exams (which is supposed to include her teeth).
I believe Dr Kvarnstrom should be publicly reprimanded.
