Poor communication, service, and missing items -- do not recommend
|
I contracted State to State in June 2020, got our items picked up in July, and our delivery happened overall in August. We paid much more than our quote, and most importantly, we were missing critical items and our delivery included items that did not belong to us, AND we have been strung along for the last 3 months on the hope that our items will actually reach us.
First, a red flag that I will most certainly look for going forward is the email for the contact for our move is NOT the same company (Elk moving and storage in email, state to state is whom we have contracted with) -- they claim to operate with State to State but not using the same name because they are the in-state service, so this seems shady.
Second, while our quote was lower because we did not anticipate as many boxes as we ended up having, we paid double what we were quoted. This seems unreasonable to a fault, but we understood given there was some estimation error on our part.
Most importantly was the delivery and the communication after delivery. The delivery clearly was done in a haphazard way, given they had multiple people's items in the truck and left us with things that did not belong to us and we were missing parts of furniture and boxes, some that have items of sentimental value and are irreplaceable. It has been more than 3 months since that delivery, and our head mover (Adam) have been telling us that they will get the missing items, which are in storage but no requested photos have been given to us to indicate this, and we have gotten no help in filing claims for missing items that they have acknowledged have not reached us.
This has been stressful and time consuming for the last 3 months for myself and my partner, and we are very concerned about hiring movers again after this experience.
