My experience with Simmons Veterinary Clinic and Barkers Hotel boarding facility was less than mediocre. This organization is money hungry and truly does not care about the animals that they are boarding. My dog has come home from stays at this facility smelling like vomit and severely sick. When there are alot of dogs boarding at one time, the dogs are neglected and not taken outside or given the necessary attention. They pride themselves on being the #1 facility in the area and state they have online webcams, but everytime I've logged onto the webcam, my dog was no where in sight. After speaking with several other people that have boarded at this facility also, they have stated the same complaint, the dogs are not watched, they are not taken out as often as they proclaim, and the owner Ken Simmons does not care about the animals that are staying there. They try to push extra medications and shots that they feel are necessary for dogs so they can charge more money. After picking up my dog over New Years' I had to bring my dog to her normal veterinarian for intravenous fluids and antibiotics because she was severely dehydrated and sick with infection which cost more money. After contacting the owner of Barkers Hotel, Ken Simmons, he proceeded to blame me for any sickness that my dog suffered from and stated he is #1 in the area and "if there is a better facility out there, I will eat them". His arrogance and lack of concern for my dog's well being has proven that he is not in this business for the love of animals. I have spent over $1400 over the past year at this facility only to now be made to feel as though I was a bother by the owner, Ken Simmons. For the amount that Simmons Veterinary Clinic and Barkers Hotel charges their customers, they should hold themselves to the higher standard that they claim to have. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone!
