Toner Scam
|
They got me. I got a call from them (sales rep Valerie) claiming they were the preferred provider of toner for my company, and said prices are about to go up, but they would honor lower price given to previous person that placed orders for my organization. I believed them since I am relatively new to my company and they referenced the previous buyer. They sent the toner, which was at a "preferred customer discount rate." Later they invoiced me for $349 for 2 toner cartridges, which I thought was a little high, even for heavy duty copying/printing. I should have done my homework before placing the order - the particular one I use should cost around $30+ per cartridge (http://tonerprice.com/ink-toner/lanier/lc-ld-ldd-lf-lp-lw/ld-325sp/841337-toner-11000-page-yield-black.html). Then I later learned that our copier company provides our toner as part of our contract. I called the customer service number on the invoice and left a voice mail. Got a call back 2 days later from Jim Miller (he is in the "customer service" dept, a term used very loosely here). I told him the situation and he said I would have to pay $90/cartridge return fee. I told him no way and asked if he could provide a physical address. He gave me the P.O. Box that is on the invoice and above. I told him that is not a physical address and I asked where he was. He just said California, and would not be any more specific. Said he would speak with supervisors to see about resolution and will call back next day. Jim called back, would not accept return after 5 days. This contradicted the previous statement about charging a re-stocking fee if returned. When questioned about this, he just stonewalled me. No satisfactory answer. Asked about price gouging, no answer. He did adjust invoice down a bit, and stopped all future orders. Still would not provide physical address. No comment on outrageous price inflation. Huge rip off, pretty shady. Should be 0 star rating.
