I had a bad experience long ago... Hope they are honest now
|
This was in 2004... they came to my work place with little stuffed monkeys and gave them to anybody who would open an account with a deposit of $1.
The savings accounts were "no fee" and "no minimum balance." We were told if we wanted, we could withdraw our $1 and have a zero balance and still keep the account without fees. Four short months later we found large service charges on our accounts - everybody at my work. We were paying something crazy each month, and really were duped and over paid for the monkeys we were given.
Customer service told us they had changed the accounts to a minimum $500 balance, with a hefty service charge (like $15 or something) against our $1 balances they set up. We ended up paying them all the service charges. I paid their service charges and they still didn't close my account. They wrote me that there were still 42 cents owing on the account. I went in and personally gave them their 42 cents with paid in full and demanded proof the account was closed and not accruing service charges.
Can't say what they have been like since then, however.
