I have been aware of Pet Adoption Fund since 1986. They have taken in and/or assisted me with numerous rescues of dogs and cats (and one of my current dogs was one of their rescues - she is the light of our life). Kay Duffy, President and driving force, has dedicated her life to this organization. Other staff members have also dedicated their lives for 20+ years. The facilities are always being upgraded (as $$ allows)and cleanliness and health for the animals if a priority.
I can attest from first hand knowledge that PAF:
--DOES NOT put any animal down for lack of space or $;
--Keeps all animals well into their senior years if the RIGHT home for them has not been found;
--Provides all vet care needed, even if the expense if great - they never deny treatment based on money.
--Educate the public on the importance of spay & neutering.
--Every animal has shots, is altered& has an ID tag;
--Follow up calls to homes are performed and all adoptees MUST return and animal to PAF if they can't keep the pet.
The rescue business is HARD and often heartbreaking. This group of people has continued to run PAF and provide a service to the community despite the difficulties of the rescue world. This is a quality organization.
Again, I can attest, when you donate money to PAF it TRULY goes to the animals. Only a handful of the people you will see at PAF are actual employees getting paid. This is a volunteer run organization and an incredible one at that.
One caveat, sometimes the volunteers may appear or act cranky, especially on the weekends. Rescue work is very taxing and stressful. Please overlook any personality issues and remember you are there to save a life and gain a companion that will bring untold joy to your life.
