DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM - UNETHICAL, DISHONEST, UNFAIR COMPANY
|
We have used Palo Alto Plumbing for various jobs, both home and commercial. I am disappointed to report that we will never use them again and want to warn others, so they do not get overcharged unethically like we did. We used them annually for furnance maintenance for an apartment complex we manage. As their costs seem to go up annually, I negotiated a flat rate ($290) for the maintenance servicing this year; normally they charge on an hourly basis, which is $110/hour. I supervised the entire job and it took 2 hours, this would have cost me only $220, had I not made the mistake of agreeing to the flat rate of $290. What upset me is that during the job, the technician changed out a control panel for one of the units for me, and he told me the part would cost another $290. I approved that. What he neglected to tell me was that he was going to charge me another $110 for one hour of labor - which is totally dishonest, unfair, and unethical, because it did not take him one hour to install this control panel. He changed out the control panel AND did all the maintenance for the units in the 2 hour time frame, so this additional "one hour charge" is actually fraud. When I complained to the owner about this, he had a major attitude and went on and on about how the extra one hour charge is a minimum. Well, I already paid for two and a half hours of work, so how is it that I would need to pay for another one hour "minimum"? I could not believe the attitude of this guy. In short, this plumbing company charged me $400 for 2 hours of labor. I don't know any other plumber who makes $200/hour. Plus I'm sure the $290 I paid for the control panel material was already marked up. Don't use them unless you want to get ripped off.
