I found an ad in the yellow pages for septic pumping. Mr. Moore's ad stated a senior citizen discount, and if ad was mentioned, receive $10 off. Mr. Moore quoted a price of $189 for pumping if no problems. He came out, and did pump the septic, but said there seemed to be a blockage in the pipe coming into the tank. He also said we needed chemicals to clean out the drain field, and said it would cost a total of $399. I knew no better, so he sprinkled a couple of containers into the septic. I asked him about the senior citizen discount, and he said it was "included." He left the lid to the septic open, as he said we needed to get the pipe unstopped. He told my son and myself that we needed to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy 2 gallons of muriatic acid (this is hydrochloric acid) and flush it down, and this should unstop the line. Well, we did this (hesitantly) and nothing happened. I ended up calling another service, and they found that Mr. Moore had broken the lid on our septic system, which may be why he didn't close it. Now we are finding out that you should NEVER put muriatic acid in your lines. Our septic tank is now full again (4 days after the pumping) and we are having to spend a lot of money because the drain field is not allowing the waste to be drained out. Mr. Moore seemed really anxious to hurry and leave. Can't believe he would just leave our system "open". My husband, who was out of town when all this happened, said I should have stopped payment on the check, but I did sign the contract. I feel I was really taken advantage of. I would not recommend Mr. Moore to anyone.
