To Whom it May Concern;
This issue which I have is the misleading “Meaningful Beauty –anti-aging “ advertisements to the consumer.
My mother was very intrigued by the TV ads and wanted to try a 30 day supply of the “Meaningful Beauty
30-day -5 piece system for ONLY $39.99 (plus tax and shipping charges)”
She placed her order online. When placing her order on the website for the “30 day supply of the “Meaningful Beauty
30-day -5 piece system for ONLY $39.99 (plus tax and shipping charges)” it was VERY WELL HIDDEN. My mother ordered this with the belief that she was just purchasing a 30-day supply. A month later, she was being billed for a 90 day -7 piece system for $139.95 (plus tax and shipping charges) and then later another charge of 90 day -7 piece system for $139.95 (plus tax and shipping charges) automatically charged to her credit card. When she called the customer service department regarding the charges and the package she received a canned response that the site does indicate the additional charges however, they would credit the credit card which she used of the $139.99 (plus tax and shipping charges) as the package never was received. However, she would have to pay $79.99 for the third package which was sent to her.
The point which I am trying to make here is that the advertising and promotions are misleading, if not totally dishonest. Why would the company have to take measures in misleading advertising such as this nature.
I look forward to your response.
Please note that as of May 26, 2011 -this complaint has been sent directly to customerservice@guthy-renker.com as suggested in response post from the company.
