Don't Buy an RV at McMahon's RV
|
On June 1, 2013, my wife and I purchased a 2012 Monaco Vesta motor home from McMahons RV at their RV show at the Rosebowl in Pasadena, CA. According to the sales person and the written sales contract the odometer reading on the vehicle was 3,548 miles and the vehicle was in like new condition. When we took possession of the RV one week later, we discovered the odometer actually read 11,175 miles, and there were a number of items needing repair that had not been addressed as promised. We were told by a member of the sales team that the Monaco Vesta has a Cummins diesel engine on a Freightliner chassis. In reality it has a Max Force International diesel engine on an International chassis. In accordance with the sales contract we paid $4,145 for 'accessories' which we were told would cover fixing non-functioning items (cabinet drawers that opened when driving, window shades not re-tracking properly, electrical ports in the dashboard not operational, transmission service light that was on, plus service (oil change and filter replacement, lubrication, and other routine maintenance needed). Since McMahons failed to provide me with a list of services performed, which were apparently not done, I have had extensive service and repair work done for items not repaired or serviced as promised. Had I known that the odometer reading mileage was misrepresented by some 8,000 miles I would have offered to pay much less money for the vehicle. I believe that this misrepresentation is fraudulent.
