I certainly should have researched Magellan before purchasing a Roadmate 1200. It became defective within 20 days of purchase. Trying to follow the requirements for repair/replacement I contact the proper department at Magellan and was outsourced to India, of course. IT took over 8 hours on and off the phone to get them to advise how to get a repair/replacement and to acknowledge they had received a copy of my purchase slip from Circuit City. Then trying to obtain a return authorization was next to impossible. I was finally told to give them a credit card number and they would send a new unit with return label and instructions to return defective unit within 30 days and credit card would not be charged for new unit. Five days later I received the replacement unit WITHOUT return label and instructions. Again on the phone to outsourced call. On hold five times in a 45 minute call I finally was told a return prepaid label would be shipped in two days and given an address to ship defective unit to but I still had the original 30 days. It is now 8 days since replacement shipped and 10 days since original call. Complaints have now been filed with California BBB, Attorney General's office and Commonwealth of Virginia Attorney General's office(purchased in Virginia) as well as with Circuit City, the original retail company.
