Review 3/30/2008
|
In September 2006, we purchased a Magellan RoadMate 6000T. We liked it so much that we ordered a hand-held Explorist. The instructions were so complicated that we had to call customer service who told us they were incomplete and finally walked us through the installation. That should have been an omen..
January 2008 we paid $72.27 for a Map Update to the 6000T and after 8 calls to their customer service department (and two case numbers) we have yet to get it installed. Our frustration level is increased by the fact that the customer service representative can barely speak English. They never refer to the existing case number and every time we call we have to go through every step we performed during prior conversations. Not ONCE have they asked me to check information on the unit, but instead prefer to take us on a wild goose-chase (over and over) on our computer stating it must be our PC that is at fault.
I should have checked the BBB before purchasing the unit. I hope I can keep someone else from making the same expensive mistake - you won't know until you try to update your unit.
I am going to try one last time before I file a formal complaint.
