In 2010 Ms. Boolen hired me to file a bankruptcy, agreeing to pay $1500. That is an extremely reasonable fee, especially considering that I let her pay in installments. Despite that, she never did pay the agreed amount. Most attorneys would not have offered such a low fee and not have allowed installments. The agreement Ms. Boolen signed clearly stated the fee was NON-REFUNDABLE. My paralegal, Bennett, whom Boolen has known since before I knew either of them, and I personally spent hours consulting Boolen about her very convoluted situation involving husband, business partners, non-profits she was entangled with, mortgage lenders she hadn't paid for months, etc., and then prepared part of the bankruptcy petition and took other actions for her for FREE that were not even part of the agreement. As I recall, we even got some money for her from a mortgage lender. She then disappeared for a YEAR or more, and out of the blue demands a refund. I told her I would still do the bankruptcy, but she was distraught about some personal situation and didn't want me to file anymore. I gave her a partial refund (which I am not obligated to do), and she signed a release. I did not lose my license; she is libeling me. Anyone who closely reads Boolen's post can see the instability: dressing incognito? shaking in my shoes? Please.
