Review 7/18/2010
|
I had an unsatisfactory experience with Kings Vanlines and would like to provide evidence of my grievances as a word of warning to any individual who is interested in contracting them for their move.
The movers breached their contract with me for a number of reasons and provided me with poor customer service. The movers failed to arrive on July 2 or 3, 2010, as specified in the contract with King's Van Lines. They were three days late and I could not get a hold of anyone at King's Van Lines who could identify for me where they were or when they would arrive. In fact, the day before the expected arrival, I spoke with a representative from King's Van Lines who told me that the movers would arrive on July 3 at 10am.
In addition to the breach of contract regarding delivery date, there
were a number of damaged and lost goods.
· First, the movers LOST the table legs to my West Elm
table. There were no table legs (item # 22 on Inventory Sheet) upon
move.
· Second, the movers damaged my dresser such that the
dresser does not comfortably stand on its own. It now tilts to one
side as a result of this damage.
· Finally, the movers broke my 42” LCD Philips television
during the move. Upon opening the box that Kings Van Lines movers
packed, the television stand was completely shattered.
More than just the damage done to my belongings, the service by
“David” the driver of the van was unacceptable. David refused to
assemble my bed and left my apartment without doing so. When I
explained to him that it is in the contract that there will be full
reassembly of my furniture, he said in a smug voice “well, what are
you going to do about it, I’m not going to assemble it.” Moreover,
David completely refused to move any of the boxes into the house. He
sat in the van while Tony Payne, the other mover, moved EVERYTHING
into the house. The only times that David appeared were to move a few
of the larger items that Tony could not move by himself. I called the
Kings Van Lines office a number of times and spoke with a female agent
there who could not provide any additional support and promised to
call me every time I called (4 times) – which she never did. I was
left completely helpless as a woman moving by herself and had no
advocate and felt as though my belongings and my well-being were in
danger if I made too much of a fuss given David’s hostility and
refusals.
I wanted to ensure that I provided a review to Better Business Bureau to prevent any other person from falling victim to them.
