I can only walk short distances due to an inoperable mass in my foot. I parked on a cold rainy night with my handicap card hanging. My dog needed to go potty. I turned away, then when I looked again, a guy was putting chains on my car. I yelled at him but he ignored me. I was reaching for proof of my DMV placard when he took off, causing me to fall. He wouldn't call police to mediate, so I got in his truck. He said his lot was 5 min away, but hopped on the freeway to another city. I demanded he let me out but he wouldn't stop. Once at his lot, he merely parked in the driveway and charged me a total of $350.00, some of which he itemized as "storage fees" and "security fees", when all he did was tow me illegally. I called the company the next morning to complain and they admitted the driver was a parolee who skipped town. For weeks they promised to take the charge off my VISA, but never did. I've since learned that breaking the CA vehicle codes is common for these guys. Now I'm working with Deputy Stegner of the Walnut police to find information about other victims of Hook It Up Towing, which he says he'll submit to the District Attorney.
