In reading the positive reviews about this company, each was surprisingly similar and could have been written by the same person. Other reviews on other sites are similar. The rave reviews do not correlate with the BBB "C" rating.
My partner and I Very dissatisfied with Goldrush Getaways. In 2006 We were invited to a presentation while attending the LA County Fair. Of course we were enticed by the "Free Weekend" trip, so we attended and enthusiastically signed up with $900 cash down hoping to be able to begin a travel agency business.
We were enticed by the low cost travel offered to "travel agents" on fam trips. These are offered by owners hoping to entice travel professionals to send their customers to these properties. The training seminars and vendor seminars were fundamental, at best. I had the opportunity to book a 7 day group to Oahu for 80, but didn't receive enough support from Goldrush to cinch the deal.
The first real shock occurred when I completed the form to get our free weekend. There were a lot of detailed instructions and I thought I had them all covered, yet missed the signature line for my traveling companion... It was disguised by a rubber stamp in red, no less. DECLINED. I didn't fill it out right and no second chances.
I was totally disillusioned while attending the 2007 travel show in Las Vegas. What a shocker! Companies like Goldrush that promoted "fam" trips for hundreds of people they could sign up were discussed and looked down at by the reputable travel industry. Ouch! I was embarrassed to wear my name tag with "Goldrush Getaways."
Real travel agencies offered several times the value for training and free even websites for individual agents/agencies. The cost was generally a few hundred dollars rather than a few thousand dollars.
So if you just want cheap travel and don't care what other travel professionals think of you, then Goldrush may be the place for you. It isn't for me. The bills keep coming.

Business's response - by Jeff Oon 10/21/2010

I am in agreement with Diane E. regarding the "rave" reviews not correlating with the "C" rating on the LABBB website. Please restore our rating to the "A" rating we had in 2007 when it was changed overnight, arbitrarily.
I am curious about the "reputable travel industry." By what standard do these "reputable" businesses claim domain over the business models of other travel companies. I defend our business model and will not kowtow to those who disagree with it.
Diane's experiences could have easily been corrected if we had known about it ahead of time and not found it here in this forum.
If she wishes to pursue her concerns I welcome the dialogue.
