I have been playing Rappelz, a game published by Gala-Net for several years and the only reason I'm still playing is because of the friends I have there, not because of the game.
The problems are as follows:
*Hacks: People's accounts are being hacked left, right, centre, and repeatedly. The entire forum for the American Server alone is one big thread about being hacked, waiting for answers, waiting for items, and being hacked again.
*Seems as though Gala is being hacked directly and that player's accounts/personal information is being taken directly from their data base, and not because someone in my house used my puter, plays the game, or I've gone to a rupee/fishing site/given out my password/shared accounts/etc.
*Hacked players and their guildies log in and can't access a GM/someone other than sending in a 'report' that Gala responds with a token little note that doesn't seem to be followed up with any sort of consistent time frame. Meanwhile the hacked items are being sold by the hacker for DAYS without apparent intervention.
* Terrible customer service. Probably the worst in the gaming industry that I have seen. The customer service is either non-existent, indifferent, inconsistent between players, or a mix of all three of the above. For example, some people have waited two weeks to have items restored, others are still waiting for Ra response after four/five/six months.
*Players seldom find out from customer service who hacked in/what happened/what was done to the hacker.
*Players seldom find out from customer service why they've been banned (temp or perm)- a note just saying you were, but lacking information as to who else may have been involved, what precisely the offense was, fails to help a person figure out how to alter their behavior, and furthermore makes it difficult for players to provide evidence to dispute claims.
*A player was permitted to play the game on Fenrir for some time despite being a 'real life' type of stalker who had some support in hiding his behavior by a forum moderator. Forum is a mess of Hacked posts and sometimes active/inactive forum moderators who more often than not help push the Troll train around.
*GM's (game masters) used to be more involved/active but are hardly seen anymore, their events are not what they used to be and certainly not as often. The server events are fewer as well- this was not always the case and it seems that recently several GM's were let go and that one of the reasons is that Gala is cutting some jobs.
*I was recently 'hacked' and telephoned Gala as well as sent emails requesting information for the police/my bank/credit card information as no sooner was I hacked than someone attempted to use my personal information (perhaps taken from my email? I don't know how they got it..) to buy RUPEES (in game money off game website/company).. I had to cancel my card but still no response from Gala.
The Gala website has said it offers players a safe/secure place to play and this is false. I have spent real money on this game, yet they do not seem to have any sort of obligation to assist us in a timely, professional manner when their systems fail. +
