I'm going to do this review objectively as possible. My husband I recently purchased an Island from this company. We were talking with Armando at the Murrieta showroom and were just looking at islands. The Tahiti sparked our interest (the one with the built in TV niche). I think it's the largest one they had. Anyway, my husband was real adamant about not committing to anything. That's when Jason stepped in and put on some pressure to put down a deposit right then. The deal seemed to be getting too good. That's when my husband agreed. Unfortunately, as they say...the deal was too good to be true.

Now I won't say that the island wasn't nice because it was and my husband and I are still enjoying it. That's not to say that it wasn't lacking things because it really was. After waiting and waiting, lie after lie, call after call after call, we finally received our island or I should say half island. You could tell it was a rushed job. Components were missing, lights not wired up and a few things damaged. We still to this date are waiting for a TV cover we were promised as well as the manual to the built-in DVD player. Another thing that was surprising is that we had to wire up each of the electrical outlets. I know other island manufactures wire everything to a single j-box were you just wire it in from your electrical run. Not with a Fantasy Islands island…At least not ours. Same goes for plumbing…Don’t expect an easy hookup to your water and drainage. They just throw a sink in there with no pre-plumbing. The sink wasn’t even fastened in place.

I think my husband spent about 3-4 hours a day trying to get answers. He would call the sales person who sold us the island and he didn’t even know. He would ask “did you call the factory?” I always thought that was their job. Don’t expect any hand holding. At one point they were apparently almost done with our island, my husband would call the factory and finds out their foreman is no longer with them as well as the girl he had been speaking to. Then he sits on hold for 45 minutes waiting for the guy to try and find the line sheet for our island and eventually hangs up and calls our sales person. The sales person tells us that they hadn’t started on our island and that we need to sign off on a new line sheet. The line sheet is what they used to know what and where to place everything (i.e. tile, outlets etc.). What’s funny is our island to this day doesn’t have the accent tiles set as they are on the line sheet that we signed off on. We’re just living with it.

If you plan to go with this company, I would use extreme caution. I wouldn’t trust anything they say. Make sure you get everything in writing, even the little things. Plan on becoming a part time contractor for your own island as well.
