I've recently purchased a Continuous Ink System (CIS) for my Canon MP640 printer through Ultragamut on Amazon, a subsidiary of the EcofriendlyInkJet family.
Back in April, I decided to invest in a CIS system because I was sick of paying for ink in individual cartridges. However, after much research, I found that finding a reliable CIS sold to the American market was difficult, if not expensive (RIHAC is sold and shipped from Australia, costing nearly $200 after S&H). I was delighted when I found Ultragamut, with their one year guarantee behind their ink products. I decided to purchase the product with the seller via Amazon (it was cheaper there)
I received the package on time and I let the ink system sit a few months as I awaited for the cartridges to run out of ink. When it was finally time to use the system in July, I opened the package and looked through the instructions (printed in 4 pages), but they were only general installation instructions for several different models of printers (funny that it does not mention the Canon MP640)
So I tried to contact customer service. I call the hotline, but no phone support is available. It refers you to the Chat box on the main page. So alright, I attempt to chat with them during business hours. I put in my name and explained that i needed help.
So I waited. And waited. And waited. After 10 minutes, the chat box prompted that customer service is busy and that it should get back to me in a few days. I left my contact info along with a description of my difficulties with the installation process. No response after 2 days. I repeat the whole process again. No response. I try it 4 more times within the next two weeks. By now, I realize that I have been jerked with. After hours of trying to figure out how to put it together, I try to install the system in the printer with the instructions i was given. I end up causing the printer to jam and break. This all could have been avoided...
Now with a broken printer that cost my $127 bucks to buy in April, I feel that the least the company can do is to give me a full refund of CIS system including shipping and handling. I can't get through to the company, so I figure putting a complaint here would get their attention. Buyer's beware!
