I had an immigration problem, conducted an in-depth search for an immigration attorney and found Daniel Shanfield.
From his background info on the web - UCLA undergrad, UC Berkeley Boalt Hall - I expected Daniel to be smart, but meeting him in person, I immediately felt that he had the other element I was looking for - the passion and commitment to his client.
I had met three other attorneys before Daniel - all with fine reputations in the SF Bay Area - and they all fell short of my expectations. I found one to be too concerned about being paid his fees and the other two were too pessimistic about my case.
Based on the what the other attorneys had said, I thought that Daniel's assessment of the case in the initial consultation was too optimistic, but he explained his track record in past cases and the strategy he was going to follow with my case, both of which seemed to justify his optimism. The case proceeded exactly as he had initially outlined - the schedule, strategy and outcome.
His fees were very competitive. I believe that the complexity of my case required him and his staff to spend more hours than justified by his agreed fee but I never received any additional request for payment or complaints from him.
The ultimate outcome was exactly as he had predicted and was a complete victory for me.
I recommend Daniel without any reservations. He combines intelligence, commitment, care and a fine sense of humor.
In my line of work, I've worked with literally hundreds of attorneys throughout the US. Daniel definitely ranks with the best of them.
