Purchased Microsoft Office 2010 from DVDVANE (Microsoft Software website) - turns out it is a 60day trial key
|
I purchased Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus as a download version from DVDVANE.
My old PC was playing up so I replaced it with a new one, so I uninstalled product from the old pc & installed it on the new pc, however upon trying to register it, it said it was an invalid product key.
I phoned Microsoft (activation hotline) & was told the key I have is a 60 day free trial key (which is odd as I've been using it on my old pc since Nov2010).
I have contacted DVDVANE many times however they keep saying the product key was for one computer only & that I'm not allowed to install it on a new computer (regardless of uninstalling from old pc) & if old pc dies, then tough luck. I have read otherwise (that it is transferable for download versions) on the Microsoft website.
I have since found out that DVDVANE's Microsoft Software website has changed URL's many times since I bought the product, which sounds rather dodgy. I asked why however have received no response.

The DVDVANE email is the same: dvdvane@gmail.com
Wouldn't it be ILLEGAL to sell a trial product key?
Any ideas on what I can do please?

Microsoft say: “If the activation is by means of a keycard it is not transferrable. Retail versions of Office 2010 (disc or download) are transferrable. You will need to uninstall the version from your new PC before installing the version for which you have the key. If you have already installed the number of times allowed by the licence, you will need to activate by telephone and speak to the operator who will eventually answer if you don't press any buttons on the phone in response to the automatic answering system.”
Old PC had Win Vista.
New PC has Win 8 (64 bit).
