Review 3/29/2009
I like many other people was in need of some extra cash when I came across the car title loan center ad in my local yellow pages. I called the loan center and after filling out an application, I was approved for a loan in the amount of $1,200.00 When I recieved my loan, I received it in cash from the loan center office. At that time I asked my "loan specialist" if instead I could have a cashiers check or money order, so I could have a reciept for my records, but my specialist said they only give their loans in cash. So, I took the cash and proceded to make my first payment the next month. When I made my first payment I did so at a bank of america, in doing so the payment was directly deposited in the loan centers account. I called the loan center to verify that they had recieved the payment, but was not called back until several days later, at that time I was asked to fax them my reciepit for the payment, which I did. Also, at that time, I was told I could set up at direct payment every month from my checking account, I went ahead and did so, that way I would not have to travel back and forth to the bank to make my payments. After a couple of months of not hearing from the loan center, I called to check on the status of my loan. At that time they told me they would have to talk to my specialist and give me an call back. Over that weekend my car was towed, when I went to go pick my car up the tow yard informed me that the car title loan center had came to pick it up. I called the loan center, and they informed me that they repossesd my car for non payment on my account. I explained to them that I had set up payments and tried to get a hold of my loan speicalist, but had not had my phone call returned. They informed me of the amount I owed on my loan. In addition, I was told I was responsible for repaying them for the impound fees for my car. I told them that I would bring them the amount owed asap. The next day I brought the amount to the loan office, and was told I had to wait 24 hours for my payment to post and recieve my car. After 24 hours I called the loan center to speak to my loan speicalist to see when I would receive my car. My loan specialist then told me that I still owed and additonal amount and until that amount was paid would not recieve my car. This was the first of many instances when the loan center would lie to me. After 3 weeks of gettting the remainder of the money together I was able to pay the loan center the additional money they claimed I owed them, plus and additional $25 they charged me a day for storing my car. The day I finally recieved my car, I called the loan center to find out where I would pick it up at. My loan specialist informed me I would "find" my car in a parking garage in downtown Los Angeles. When I finally found my car, it was in the worst condidtion I had ever seen. My front window was broken, and my car had been ransaked, my stero equipment was missing, my gas can was missing, and all my cds and dvds were missing. I called the loan center and spoke to my speicalist and was told he would look into it and call me back. When he finally called me back he informed me that the damagages and missing items must have occured at the tow yard. I called the tow yard where my car was and they informed me that they had an itemized list of the contents of my car as well as the condiditon of the car, on that list, iy had all my belongings listed as well as the condidion of the car listed as good. The tow yard explained to me that this list was signed by the loan center and they verified that the car was in good condition and contents were inside before they took posession of the car. Therefore, the damgages and theft occured while my car was in the car title loans posession. When I explained this to the loan center they told me to write them a letter and they would get back to me, after numerous letters, phone calls and emails I have never heard from them. They refuuse to take my calls and never awnser any correspondence.
I believe that the Car Title Loan Center should have their business license revoked, if they even have a business license. I would not reccomend anyone doing any business with them, and if they already have a loan with them would suggest getting a lawyer to review their loan. Please beware!
