I hired Budget Legal Office to process my divorce on April 2010. The firm completed the necessary paperwork, but they have many mistakes on it, such as discrepancies on date of marriage and the birth date of my son. I complained about it, and was told by the Secretary that they will fix the mistakes before filing it to the court. May 21, 2010 they filed all the paperwork to the Orange County Courthouse and had the respondent serve with the summons and other documents.
On the day of my divorce court trial, The Superior Court Lawyer informed me that I need to have an Amendment because Budget Legal did not fix the wrong dates. The divorce should go through without any problem, but there are many mistakes in the divorce documents.
I contacted Budget Legal Center the next business day and informed them about the problem. They filed for another amendment at the court, and then they mailed me the supposedly corrected amendment form. It still have discrepancies with the date because she was hurrying to fill it up and to send it to my soon to be ex-wife. I ask them to mail it by priority mail so that I will have the notice that she received the paper. They had to do and complete another 2nd amendment and filed it again, and had the respondent served for the 3rd time.
I contacted again my soon to be ex-wife, and she explained that she never received anything from Budget Legal Center. I called Budget Legal Center and tried to explain. I received poor customer service, and asked to pay for another fee. There should be no problem only if they just send it through priority mail so that they will have a noticed back from postal office that she did receive the documents.
A few days later on Friday the 5th of November I went to the Budget Legal Center office. I talked to Mr. Phil Harris professionally; I politely asked him questions concerning my divorce procedures. I asked how the amendment was sent, and informed them that the respondent did not receive anything. He said it was sent by regular mail. He asked me what was the question I had for him I explained that his Secretary, Ms. Foust committed many mistakes on the paper work several times, and I asked why I should have to pay an extra $100.00 for them to fix their mistakes. Mr. Harris was not even familiar with my case because they are holding many cases.
Mr. Harris got upset, and told me in a very unprofessional tone that he is going to charge me $200.00 instead of $100 to fix it. As far as I know I paid them money to fix my papers and in return I received a bad customer service, He also told me that I can just pick- up my files on Monday and prepare it by myself. I calmly walked out the door. I told Mr. Harris earlier on our conversation that I am going to ask for a refund of my payment to his service since he terminated the contract without fixing my case. He followed me outside the office, and threatened me that he is going to file a restraining order against me and will call a police the next time he will see me in his office. He was mad and very unprofessional with me. I only went there in the first place to follow-up my case. No where was I rude with Mr. Harris; I talked to him professionally and personally to deal with my case. I was very polite and not even raised my voice. I have been very polite and patient customer even if Harris always hanging up the phone, and always unfamiliar with my case whenever I ask for updates. Budget Legal Center has cost me time and money that I don’t have. I hope this matter will be resolved and I am asking for help to resolute this problem.
