Before the merge of all WoW accounts to Battle.net they were quite a reputable company. However today that has all changed for the worse, at least in my opinion. Ever since the merge last year (2009) my WoW account has been hacked 3 times (to my knowledge) without ever playing it, logging into it, or even subscribed to it. I am curious as to why ONLY the Wow account was hacked and not the other games associated with my account. So I was contacted by support to take measures to 'secure' my account by checking and verifying my email address, changing my password (several times I might add) which I used a special password generator to generate an 87bit random password, AND purchase and register a Battle.net authenticator (a small device that generates a 6 digit random number that ONLY YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO KNOW). That didn't seem to stop the hackers from getting access to my account again and in turn getting my account LOCKED out and unsubscribed. Basically it boils down to VERY poor security (obviously), terrible customer service and sub-par item quality (IE the hackable authenticator). I for one if I didn't have other games associated with my account would stop doing business with them immediately. Please be aware that no matter what you do to secure your account, if a hacker wants to access it they WILL find a way.
