Where to begin?
First off Cool Cabins has to be one of the worst run rental companies on the planet.
Second if you notice, Cool Cabins gets a rating of an "F" on this BBB website.
Yes an "F" with over 50 registered complaints! This is extremely hard to do.
The one positive review that is currently written (below mine) on the BBB.org for Cool Cabins is 100% a fake and if you read it you can clearly see that it must have been written by either a Cool Cabin employee or the owner, it's so obvious.
Now....My experience was so bad that I felt compelled to come to this site to warn others so that they don't waste their money like I did.
The following is an (HONEST) account of my weekend at a Cool Cabin and my interactions with their staff and owner:
Here is the laundry list of complaints:
- NO HEAT (AT ALL) in the downstairs area
(Absolutely Freezing) conditions.
We called them on our first night there, so they sent out a crew and nothing was fixed. The crew actually left without even telling us they were done. We then called again the next day after freezing the night before. I told them I had a 6-month-old baby and that he and the rest of my family were stone frozen the night before. So they sent out a second guy who after looking underneath the house and checking out the heater said "there was nothing more he could do...it is what it is." WOW!
- Bed Sheets and Linens were dirty
****(EWWWW) Long blonde and black strands of hair were found all over the blankets and sheets. Some of the blankets had nasty stains that were smeared and disgusting. Even our towels looked like they were previously used.
- No hot water in the downstairs shower
(Unacceptable)
- The bedframe that supported the bed I was sleeping in (BROKE) in the middle of the night, sending myself slamming into the wall. (Absolutely ridiculous)
- Hole in sliding glass door
(Downstairs sliding glass window had handle missing, causing a massive flow of cold air that blew through the downstairs) (Worker attempted to fix with TAPE?)
- Hot Tub Wasn’t Hot
(Paid for a hot tub, not a luke warm tub, never got above 70 degrees) (Water was dirty and the foam was so thick, last employee apologized and tried to add chemicals to make it go down) (Chemicals turned our bathing suits green)
- BBQ didn’t work
Two BBQ grills on the back porch – One was gas and didn’t even work and the other grill was charcoal. During grilling my steaks the wheel fell off, causing my steaks to fall to the ground. At this point you would think I am making this up. But I swear this is true!
- Patio Furniture Was Pathetic
(Patio furniture had huge holes in them and the furniture was worn to the point that it looked like it came from the city dump)
- No remote control to any TVs
(At least 15 different remotes filled a basket, and unbelievably none of the remotes worked to any of the TVs, had to get up the whole vacation to turn the channels)
- Dryer broken
(Couldn’t dry wet clothes) Sign posted on it said - BROKEN DON'T USE - Even though they advertise washer/dryer for the cabin.
- Trash compactor broken
(Trash could not be put in their disposal system, had to have garbage bags lying around on the kitchen floor)
- Dining table chairs were either warn down or the legs were unstable
- Strangely enough there was a phone in the garage that was attached to the main dining room and it kept ringing at weird hours. Must have rang 10 times and wouldn’t stop for several minutes. Problem is the garage door was locked so we had to just listen to a ringing phone from time to time.
If this hasn't scared you by now, nothing ever will.
After returning from the trip you could imagine that I called their front office. I told them about everything that happened and there was NO "SORRY" or any sign of sympathy.
I then tried to contact the owner (Alisa) who only dogged every attempt and passed it off to one of her employees. She claimed I had never called before to complain and this was the first she had heard of it. Alisa claims she was on a three-week vacation during my stay and she wasn't around to talk to us.
After many, many attempts (including threatening to take them to court) to get our money back, they called and offered half. We took it so that we could move on. This whole experience is unbelievable and will go down in the record books.
But PLEASE do yourself a favor tell everyone you know not to rent from Cool Cabins or their other rental businesses in Big Bear called Bigbearfishing.com, skihomes4rent.com, littlebearheaven.com, lakearrowheadcoolcabins.com, affordable cozy cabins, 4bigbearcabins.com,big-bear-cabins.us,bigbearlakelazybear.com,bigbearlakelazybear.com

...and there must be more dubious names for their cabins or even new ones to come - So do your research and make sure you don't rent from them.
Hope this saves someone from the trouble I went through. These people are sick and even worse LIARS!
