I recently needed to move only 2 blocks down the street. However, having a newborn in the house and having exhausted a substantial proportion of our PTO. My wife and I decided to hire movers. The agreement was for the to show up on a Sat at 1pm. We had already boxed everything and only needed a few items moved such as washer, fridge, couple dressers, futon, couch and a bed frame. Our family and friends showed up to assists us with moving ALL of the boxes. So all of the boxes were moved. First off they got there at 4pm and did not care about the time or how it severely impacted our plan, schedule as well as our helpers. They only sent 2 people instead of the agreed upon 3 so it would not take more time and the price was reduced only 1/8 instead of a more proportionate reduction. No compensation was offered. They went back on their agreement to include the wrapping for sensitive items like a leather couch. They did not even use the blankets they stated they included. They gave us a take it or leave it ultimatum. We conceded due to how we needed to be out by that weekend. IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE.
Ultimately, our Washer was banged up and non-functional. In moving things in they broke tile in our new house in addition to a french door and our refrigerator motor which was also broken. Somehow it took them 4 hours (talking to Felix the owner via cell phone almost the entire time). In the course of those 4 hours they damaged the apartment I was vacating substantially by banging up walls, doors, ruining paint jobs and tearing linoleum.
Horrible experience they LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING they had agreed to initially. No wrapping included. No insurances on items included, not the correct number of people or estimate of hours. They did not even apologize or make adjustments.
