Review 3/6/2008

In January, we experienced the great misfortune of having chosen Avalon Van Lines to move us. We had prearranged to have our household moved on a Saturday morning. The movers NEVER came that day! Since all we could reach at their offices was a voice machine, there was no way to know what in the world was going on (no one ever checked the messages we left, or responded to us). We finally could wait no longer, and had a friend stay at our old address in case Avalon finally arrived (they never did!). Since we had to drive from San Diego to Arizona, the time wasted waiting for these people caused us to arrive there much later than we hoped. On the following Tuesday, Avalon finally came by to collect our goods (thank heaven we had a good friend in San Diego to be there on short notice). We then waited for eleven days before finally seeing our belongings out in Arizona. Since we did have to change the delivery address later, that turned out to be a vague blessing. For anyone acutally requiring their furniture, clothing, etc. etc. before eleven days though, this would be completely unacceptable. MOST of our belongings actually made it, with minor damage noted on any number of items. We are however still missing at least one box of goods, and now doubt that it will ever be found. My recommendation to anyone thinking of using this moving company is to RUN AWAY.
