I have been harassed by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) for many weeks. Their marketing department continually violates the law and subjects people to endless crank and annoying calls - in direct violation of the Federal Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007. As the ACLJ is run by "lawyers", their egregious violations of law and grossly unethical practice are nothing less than obscene. Here are the facts:
1. I've been getting calls from the ACLJ for weeks even though I never gave them my number to harass me. The number they used today is (202) 459-9010. They have used other numbers too.
2. My phone numbers have always been unlisted and I've been on the National Do Not Call lists for many years.
3. When I answer their harassing phone calls, the ACLJ immediately hangs up on me.
4. Calling the number back does the same thing - when I call back to tell them to stop harassing me (again), I get blasted with a single, loud, and very obnoxious beep which they then immediately disconnect me (this fact is easily verified).
I called one of their other numbers, from their web site, many weeks ago and demanded that their harassing calls cease immediately. I was told that their marketing department uses an automated dialer that calls three different numbers at once, the first phone that gets answered receives their harassing phone call, the other two phones get disconnected (there have been MANY times when I've answered my phone only to be subjected to this extraordinarily disgusting practice. When I called the ACLJ, several weeks ago, they promised to take care of the matter within 48 hours - that was a lie - their harassing calls have NEVER STOPPED. I reported the ACLJ to the National Do Not Call Center weeks ago - that has done nothing (I just reported them a second time, a moment ago). This afternoon, I received more crank calls from the ACLJ, but now they're using FAKE and FRAUDULENT caller IDs. The one I received today states they're a "collection agency" (that, of course, is a lie).
