DANGEROUS VEHICLES - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
|
My experience with AVR was quite possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
I rented a vehicle from AVR in Sacramento March 8th of 2018. When I got on the freeway to my destination (about 45 miles away) I noticed that there was a light blinking on the dashboard but couldn't tell what it was given that I was driving down the freeway. I assumed that it was a check engine light and didn't worry too much about it since I did not have the time to pull over and figure out what was wrong. Big mistake on my part.
I got to my destination and had forgotten about the light and after a few hours continued on to my final destination. I noticed the light again and checked it out once I got there. Dangerous tire pressure. I'm driving with an infant in my vehicle with dangerously low tire pressure in one of my tires. The other 3 were 15 pounds of pressure over what they should have been. I put air in the low tire, but the pressure kept going down. These people don't even check their vehicles before they rent them out - that low pressure light was on when I took the vehicle! I called customer service on several different occasions and after being hung up on 3 times when I asked for a supervisor I finally talked to someone who told me to take the vehicle to Pep Boys in the city that I was in. I get there and it's gang central so I couldn't even get out of the car. I called her back and she sent me to another Pep Boys in the next town over and said they would be waiting for me to fix the tire. Not only did they not know I was coming, they didn't have any time to repair the tire before they closed. When I called her back she told me that she wasn't able to get through. You would think she would have called me back instead of letting me waste yet another hour of my day (in addition to gas AND the fact that I was driving on a faulty tire). She told me that she would contact the manager Monday morning at the facility that I rented from and that they would contact me and rectify the situation. Of course they never called so I put a can of fix a flat in the tire and called it a day. When I returned the car a few days later, the manager told me that he wasn't even aware of the situation, while mentioning that he had gotten a few messages about tire problems over the weekend. In addition to the tire, the oil light was constantly blinking with messages saying that the vehicle was overdue for an oil change and servicing.
I talked to the manager of the Sacramento facility and he told me that he would make sure that this vehicle was serviced before it went back on the road and that he would look into the situation and refund part of my rental fees for my issues. Of course he did not do that.
