We had the most horrible experience at AV Animal ER. We took our cat in because he was crying and in pain but we did not know why or what had happened. The night that we took our cat there the staff and vet on duty had lead us to believe that our cat could be saved and that we would be able to take him home in the morning. They told us that he had urinary crystals and that they could hook him up to a catheter overnight to clear the crystals and once he was home the following morning we would have to keep an eye on him and treat him with meds and special foods. So because we were given hope and believed that our cat could be saved we paid them $1500.00 that night. Only to find out in the morning that his condition was not any better and that he was in pain and suffering so the best thing for him would be to be put down. So that is what we did.
We scheduled to talk with the owner regarding this matter of bad business and the duplicate charges to our bill. They did reimburse those dup charges... which we probably would not have noticed if our cat survived. At the end of it all the owner said to us for another 6 to 7 hundred more dollars our cat could have been saved! Why was this option not given to us in the morning! And or if our cat was in such grave condition why was the option of putting him down not given the night that we brought him in! With proper advice either our cat might still be with us or had died without having to go through more pain and suffering.
So we and our cat have been robbed by this place! Please call your vet even after hours if your pet is in need of critical care after hours... a good honest vet will meet with you. Which I wish I would have known before this. This place will give you hope only to take it away for not only a huge fee but also with the price of your pet's life.
