My experience with Alibaba.com has been nothing short of a horrible experience. In June of 2009 I was interested in buying various electronics in bulk. I figured I would go through Alibaba to help me get in connection with a good "dependable" distributor. However, my horror story as you will learn nearly collapsed my business and Alibaba accepts absolutely zero responsibility. They have done it to many people. First, Alibaba will gain trust to its user by offering "gold passes". This means they check the business and charge them a once time fee so that they can be trusted. This will insure that you are dealing with a legitimate wholesaler or distributor. However, there have been various claims that report otherwise: http://report-online-scams.com/blog/2009/07/alibaba-never-takes-responsibility/ When I first began my search for a supplier, I signed up for an Alibaba account. I then searched for camera lens, because at the time I was interested in buying about ten in bulk and selling them. I found a couple decent or what I thought were good suppliers, however they turned out to be fake companies that just purchased their passes and ripped people off for hundreds and thousands of dollars. This "fake" company gave me a list that was to good to be true. Foolishly thinking they were "real" I agreed to buy ten camera lenses from them. I wired them money through Western Union and was told that they would be on their way. I even got tracking for them. Unfortunately, when I received them they were all fake broken iPhones. Also, they were packaged with a fake packing list to make them appear that they went to the wrong customer. About the same time I did this I ordered 5 cell phones from another company (again found them on Alibaba). I also received another wrong packing list and a 2 knock off phones. As like before, I also sent them money through Western Union. I contacted Alibaba various times and they basically told me tough luck, and we have never heard of that business. To this day they deny that I ever came in contact with them through their network. A year has passed and Alibaba did nothing to help me. I have lost about 10,000 due to Alibaba, and MANY other people have lost so much more. There staff has generic names like "Lemon" that were of zero assistance to me at all. I believe there should be a class action suit against this company. I honestly believe they don't check any company before giving them a pass membership. They might claim to but the facts don't lie. Hundreds of people have been ripped off on Alibaba. I am guess that millions have been lost because of the corrupt users on Alibaba. You can trust that Alibaba isn't doing anything to aid the situation. Just check these sites and you will clearly see that they do not accept any responsibility for anything: www.report-online-scams.com www.ripoffreport.com www.complaintsboard.com I would HIGLY encourage everyone to stay away from them. I have filed a report with the FBI, but nothing ever got settled with them. Alibaba is WORST experience I have ever had. I have told all my friends to avoid Alibaba like the plague!
