These guys like to point out the law about change orders when signing contracts. They will tell you they absolutely will not charge you more than your contract without a change order. Then when you as for something else to be done and ask how much they say don't worry about it we will eat the cost. Then after it is done they will say sorry we can't eat the cost you know owe us $1100 more. They did it twice on us on a small project ($6000). Their work is incomplete. They were to install a laminate(aka. Formica) countertop that was custom ordered to my countertop because we have a very old house and not standard counters. It was too long on both ends and then ended a back splash was in front of a cabinet door on one side. They cut out my wall without my permission on both sides(along with breaking my door casing). Instead of ordering a new countertop, when requested to, they threatened to walk off the job leaving me without running water in my kitchen(which had been off already for three days). I had to accept the wrong size counter top in order to have water to cook for my family(two small children included). One excuse we keep hearing is that our house is old so not everything is going to be perfect. ?? So our counter top shrank in the month it took them to install it after ordering it? The result was I am guessing the parent company came in(Mr. Build) when we requested to talk to a supervisor. He was VERY unsympathetic to our complaints. Insisted without really listening to us that he already knew the project WELL. He came up with the solution to build our cabinet out to meet the countertop ordered and we had to live with the countertop being in our wall. This project is ending today(10/2/10) and they still have left things not quite right. I just want them away from our house. The only positive point on the entire thing was the last guy(David) brought in by Jacob was the most professional off all the workers we have seen on our house remodel(previous work included). He cleaned up with his own supplies AND replaced the items he moved to work. He sorted the trash out to go in to the blue, black AND green bins. He even did a little extra like adding the extra mud mixed to areas that were not part of the project(at my request) instead of throwing it away. I am not sure what the entire project would have looked like with him on it but I wouldn't recommend Abe and his crew. All of their work is crappy. Denting the sliding door they installed, leaving messes to clean up, having to make lists of things that were supposed to get done and it still not getting done.
